‘ The family, as the immediate substantiality of mind, is specifically characterised by love, which is mind’s feeling of its own unity. Hence in a family, one’s frame of mind is to have self consciousness of one’s individuality within this unity as the absolute essence of oneself, with the result that one is in it not as an independent person but as a member.- Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel
Apparitions is a portrait of my home in Mumbai as experienced over extended periods of time, virtually & remotely. All the images are made using screen captures over a series of Skype conversations, facilitated by a poor internet connection. It started as a very unconscious act, and before long I had a big collection of screenshots which had a story hidden in them.
Apparitions explores the effect that time and technology have had in the development of my perception of spaces, and of relationships that are most valuable to me.
